The OPW has purchsed 235 acres, in addition to the 227 acres that the OPW already owns

There were 14 separate reports from Castletown House and Donaghcumper House in Kildare, including one spree that caused over €500,000 worth of damage.

Campaigners had claimed the gates and fencing were blocking public vehicular access to the house and grounds via a road known as Gay’s Avenue.

In their proceedings, the companies claim the committee has “wrongfully asserted” that their lands are subject to a public right of way and a public right of access

The community group says that the public has previously “enjoyed habitual access” to Castletown House via Gay’s Avenue
