There were 17,112 people in emergency accommodation in January: 11,793 adults and 5,319 children.

It is the first time the number of homeless children has surpassed 5,000.

Just three properties were available within standard HAP limits across the 16 areas surveyed by the Simon Communities in October.

A joint report from the Simon Communities of Ireland and Simon Community NI revealed that hidden homelessness impacts 30,000 households across the island of Ireland. 

The report found 1,178 properties were available to rent at any price within the 16 areas surveyed over the three dates surveyed in June 2024.
