Carlow College, St Patrick’s, is to phase its closure over a two-year period as South East Technological University (SETU) is to take control of the campus.

It comes 16 years after crystal manufacturing ended at the Kilbarry site.

Monday's classes have been cancelled as a result, except laboratory classes, with the campus being left with no internet and access to other online facilities
