TY and 5th year students from Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone, sightseeing after school in Lille, France.
A group of transition year and 5th year French students from Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone, headed off to Lille, in France on a student exchange recently. The students experienced family life and attended school at Lycee Saint Paul. This was a fantastic opportunity to put their language skills to good use. Ms Fleming organised and accompanied the students.
Kilglass Enniscrone Utd FC wish Ava Hallinan, one of their most talented youth players, the best of luck as she signs for Sligo Rovers U16 team this January. Ava has been with KEUFC since she was 6 years old, playing on boys and girls teams all the way through with great distinction. Ava captained Sligo/Leitrim to the Gaynor Cup title last year and has also had call ups to Ireland squads.
Although the club will miss her greatly around the teams, they are hugely proud of Ava and they can’t wait to see where her career brings her.
Please remember in your prayers the following who died recently; Tena (Christina) Nestor nee Bourke, Galway and Culleens (sister of Marie Deehan); Margaret (Peg) Hallinan nee Sweeney, Carns, Culleens/Cabra, Kilglass; and Alan Connolly, Ballina (son of Gerry Connolly and nephew of the late Kevin and Brendan Connolly).
‘After much soul searching, it is with great sadness that we are announcing the retirement of LEAP’ said Marie, Tina, Grania and Marie – the committee of LEAP. LEAP started 10 years ago, and the ladies have now made the decision to hang up their boots in February on the 10th anniversary. ‘This will give time for a new team of residents to take up the Tidy Towns mantle for the coming year’. They are earnestly hoping that a new group of like-minded residents will come forward and continue entering Easkey Village into this competition, because it is of such benefit to the village and the community. The ladies will be happy to share their knowledge gained, to help in getting a new team started.
Tidy Towns was their main focus when they began, but as people know, Leap grew into so much more than that. Their mission statement back in February 2015 was:
‘LEAP’ is a group of like-minded Easkey residents who are committed to boosting the profile and beauty of our charming village; we aim to inject vitality and pride into our community by everyone coming together, to rejuvenate the Parish of Easkey/Rathlee’.
The committee trust that over the past 10 years they have managed to achieve that mission. They thank everyone who has supported and encouraged them along the way, and for giving them a chance to be able to present Easkey as a place that they can all be proud of.
‘We truly enjoyed our time as The LEAP’ committee’, Marie, Tina, Grania and Marie.
