Calendar full of hearts for charity
Community Art Group Ballaghaderreen have made a calendar for 2024 full of hearts in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. It is for sale for €8 in nine shops in Ballaghaderreen. The images come from the 10x10cm canvases the art group made for their HeArt4U project. They were displayed during the Ballaghdream Festival this summer. Now, the canvases have been wrapped in cellophane and are being distributed in Ballaghaderreen and further afield for people to find and take home. With the calendar, even more people are able to enjoy them. The shops are BB Hair, Brian Mulligan’s, First Class Office/School Supplies, Imelda Towey’s, Michael Mulligan’s, Molloy’s Pharmacy, Newsround, Padraig Mulligan’s and SuperValu. The calendar makes a lovely Christmas present and the proceeds go to a good cause.
November Remembrance Service
A Remembrance Service will take place in St. Nathy’s Cathedral, Ballaghaderreen on Sunday November 19, at 7pm for all who have died since November 2022. If you wish to include the names of deceased family members or friends at this service who died during the year in other parishes, contact The Presbytery on 094 9860011 or email cathedral@achonrydiocese.org.
Ballaghaderreen Ladies Golf
A very successful and enjoyable weekend was spent by the ladies at Westport Golf Course. For some members this was their first golfing experience outside their own club and while conditions were challenging along some parts of the course, all golfers completed either nine or eighteen holes on the day. Well done to the following winners of the 18H Stableford: 1st Sarah McDonagh 2nd Maura Madden. Beginners 9H Stableford: 1st Tina Surlis, 2nd Jean Towey. A huge thank you to our captain, Maura Madden for organising the event. GAA AGM
The annual general meeting of Ballaghaderreen GAA Club will take place in The Clubhouse on Sunday, November 26, at 3pm.
50/50 draw
The Ballaghaderreen GAA club 50/50 draw took place on Sunday, November 5, in Spells Bar, Pound St. The jackpot of €552 was won by Marguerite Drake, Crenane and it was an online sale. Tickets can be purchased at various outlets in the town. An annual 50/50 ticket for €90 giving entry into every draw in the year is available from committee members. Soccer club 50/50 draw
The Soccer Club 50/50 weekly draw took place on Tuesday, November 7, at the Community Park Clubhouse. The jackpot of 230 was won by Matt Gara and the seller was Mannions. The next draw takes place on Tuesday, November 14, at Community Park Clubhouse. North West STOP are holding their AGM on November 17, at The Mayflower, Drumshambo, at 7pm. Guest speakers and light refreshments on the evening. All are welcome.

Concert at Knock Shrine
A fundraising concert for Victim Assistance Charity that supports victims of crime and trauma in Ireland will be held in The Basilica, Knock Shrine on December 1. Bereavement Support meetings
Trained facilitators conduct a weekly Bereavement Support Meeting at the Family Centre, Knock Shrine each Wednesday at 11am. November Masses for the deceased
Fr Joseph will celebrate a Novena of Masses for deceased relatives and friends included in the November lists for the deceased. Envelopes are available in the churches. A service for the deceased will be held on Sunday, November 26, at 7pm in Kilmovee Church remembering all the deceased but remembering especially those who have gone to their eternal reward since November 2022.

The late Sr Moira Ryan
The death took place of Sr Moira Ryan, Marist Convent, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim and formerly of Gowlaun, Doocastle, Co. Mayo on Tuesday, November 7, peacefully at Sligo University Hospital surrounded by her family and Marist family. Sr Moira was predeceased by her parents Michael Joseph and Nora, brother Michael John and is deeply mourned by her brother Seamus (Tuam) and Thomas Bernard (Tunnagh, Carracastle), sister Patricia (Pat) Powell (Drumiskibole, Sligo), sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, grand-nephews, grand-nieces and her Marist family, her missionary family in Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Scotland and Ireland, relatives and friends.
Sr Moira reposed at the Marist Convent Chapel, Carrick-on-Shannon on Wednesday, November 8, with removal on Thursday, November 9, to St James Church, Charlestown, for Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. May Sr Moira rest in peace as deepest sympathy is extended to all who are bereaved.
