Local notes: Presentation of €5000 to Cancer Care West
 Patricia Maguire, Rehins, Ballina, making a presentation of €5,000 to Cancer Care West nurse Catherine McCormack. Patricia raised the funds in memory of her beloved father Paddy McGrath from Rossport. Patricia extends thanks to everyone who generously supported this very worthy cause.
The priests of the parish extend a warm welcome to all visiting in the parish during the Christmas period and extend to parishioners both at home and abroad New Year greetings with many blessings for the year ahead.
Congratulations to the children from Currabaggan NS and Garracloon NS who participated in their respective Nativity Plays last week. Currabaggan NS held their play in Christ the King Church, Knockmore, while the Garracloon children held their play in the school. Well done to the teachers, children and parents and all involved.
‘Holding Out for a Hero’ is the title of a new book from Fr Brendan Hoban, looking at the hope and promise that Pope Francis is bringing to the church. Copies are available for sale from Easons, Ballina at €18. It would make a lovely gift.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of the late Teresa Walsh (nee Finnerty) whose death took place recently in the UK. She was a niece of Tom, Kevin and Martha Finnerty, Calladashin. May she rest in peace.

Adoration/Holy Hour takes place on Wednesday mornings in Knockmore church after 10am Mass, from 10.30-11.30am. All are welcome to drop in at any time.
Bingo continues every Monday night at 8.30pm in the Community Hall in Knockmore with valuable prizes to be won every week. Refreshments are also served. It is a lovely night to meet up with neighbours and friends.

The Legion of Mary Senior Praesidium hold their meetings in the sacristy on Tuesday mornings following 10am Mass in Knockmore Church and on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm for the junior meetings. If you are interested and would like to find out more about their works, contact any of its members.
Dinners continue to be available from the centre in Knockmore on weekdays Monday to Friday. This is proving a very popular service in the community and is used by a cross section of people. Ardagh GAA Club's annual Christmas presentation evening takes place this Thursday, December 28, in Mickey O'Boyle's, starting at 8.30pm. The annual get together has become an unmissable event in recent years where players, committee members and supporters get an opportunity to mix and mingle in a convivial and friendly atmosphere. A Player of the Year award will also be presented during the evening. There will be music, spot prizes galore and admission is free. Come along and enjoy the end of season celebrations.
The organisers of Ardagh GAA Club's quiz night held last Thursday in Mickey O'Boyle's wish to thank everyone who supported the hugely successful event. The fundraising quiz was organised by members of the club's junior team who deserve huge credit for their input and organisational skills.
An appreciation night for all those who helped and supported the Crossmolina Agricultural Show Committee takes place tonight, Thursday, December 28, in the Dolphin Hotel. There will be a mulled wine reception from 7-9pm followed by music and finger food. All welcome to attend the festive gathering.
