Local Notes: Knockmore GAA senior ladies were narrowly defeated in the county final.

Members of the Knockmore Senior Ladies team who were narrowly defeated by Wesport in the county final held recently.
There was no winner of Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club lotto jackpot on Saturday night, October 19, in Hineys and the numbers drawn were 9, 13, 23 and 28. Three tickets were drawn; Millie O’Connor, Kerry; Pauline Dunne, Bofeenaun; and Vincent and Evelyn Crowley, Moylaw, Crossmolina and they won €50 each. The latest jackpot was €6,450.

Heartiest congratulations to Ardmoy U17 team and management who pulled off a magnificent victory by winning the Mayo U17 Grading League division 4 crown last week. Along the route they accounted for Charlestown in the semi-final and a much fancied Davitts side in the final on a scoreline of 5-11 to 3-6 at the Connacht Centre of Excellence, Bekan. It is a victory richly deserved by the young players and their magnificent backroom team and augurs well for the future.
There was no outright winner of Ardagh GAA Club's October monthly lotto draw held last week. Numbers drawn were 17, 13, 29 and 49. Lucky €50 winners were Cora Herbert Rohan and Alice Healy.
Ann Coy has expressed her sincere gratitude to all who supported the recent coffee morning held at her home in aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice. A total of €855 was raised for the very worthy cause.
Parish Priest, Fr. Pat Munnelly has expressed his sincere gratitude to all who are supporting the current church appeal fund and those who have given donations towards the fund to date.

The parents association of a rural two-teacher school is holding a fundraiser in a bid to raise much needed funds to improve their school yard. Lacken National School is hosting a table quiz on November 1, in the popular Bessie’s bar. Quiz master on the night will be Midwest’s Michael D McAndrew. Committee members hope that funds raised will go towards providing students with a much sought after play area. Registration from 7pm on the night with kick off at 8pm.
