The Emigrant Park will be officially opened on Saturday next, April 27, at 12 noon by Mr Bill Durkan. Mr Durkan made a very generous donation towards the park’s fundraising appeal which allowed the project to reach this momentous milestone.
Phase one of the Emigrant Park is now completed and the new green heart of Kiltimagh is ready to be unveiled. This phase involved the development of a walkway with lighting, seating, a pump track, planting of native trees, and an outdoor willow classroom connected to the park pathways via a Roman Road constructed from sheep wool and limestone.
The grand opening of the Emigrant Park will take place on the Knock Road entrance of the Park in Kiltimagh. As part of the opening, a time capsule will be buried. The oragnising committee invites all members and groups of the community to come along on the day with items, photographs or notes that they would like to include in the capsule.
The Kiltimagh Amenity Park Committee invites you all to come and celebrate this special occasion.
Best of luck to the Clann Machua Drama Group who travel to Mountmellick, Co Laois this coming weekend to present their play
at the All Ireland finals on Friday night. It has been a hectic few months for the group who have travelled to numerous festivals in March from as far away as Castleblaney, Co Monaghan to Clonakilty in West Cork, picking up many acting and technical awards along the way.The two-act play is directed by Seamus Corry and written by Yvonne Quinn and Bairbre Ni Chaoimh. It is a humorous and moving piece of work that centres around one woman’s search for her birth mother.
The members of the drama group have worked very hard over the last number of months with rehearsals and backroom preparations and they fully deserve their place in the finals.
As they are on stage on the final night of the festival in Mountmellick, the presentation of awards will be made on the same night, which should make the whole experience all that more exciting.
