Local Notes: Kiltimagh Ladies Group celebrate their 30th anniversary with visit to Leinster House.

Celebrating their 30th anniversary at Leinster House are the Kiltimagh Ladies Group. The group was treated to lunch and a tour of Dáil and Seanad Éireann by Minister of State Dara Calleary TD and Cllr Adrian Forkan.
Congrats to Dani, Jaz and Harvey Sidhu, Cordarragh Drive, Kiltimagh, who were the lucky winners of the GAA Club’s 50/50 jackpot of €639 at the draw held in Kitty’s Bar on Saturday night, June 15.
Francis McNicholas and Margaret Waters were the winners of the first prize at the 25 Drive held in the Parish Centre, Kiltimagh on Thursday night, June 13. Second were Phillip Moore and Tom Durkin and third prize was won by Ciarán McDonnell and Jack Ryan. Last 10 prize Jimmy and Mary Doyle, spot prize Michael Carney and Michael Costello and raffle winners were Phillip Moore, Francis McNicholas x2 and John Walsh. Game continues throughout the summer with the game starting at 9pm every Thursday night.
The Parents Association from St Aidan’s NS thank the parents and guardians who attended their recent AGM. They were delighted to announce at the AGM that monies raised by the Parents Association will be going towards the development of the school pitch. A pathway will be constructed around the perimeter of the pitch providing the school children year round access to this area of the school. This development work will commence over the summer weather permitting.
Thanks to the generosity of their parent body and wider community, the Parents Association of St Aidan's NS has been able to make a significant contribution towards the cost of this project.
They also thank everyone for the support that they have given the Parents Association’s fundraising initiatives over the last number of years and for the big Summer Raffle. Without this support they would not be in a position to support school projects like this.
Kiltimagh boys had an impressive 2-14 to 1-8 win over Swinford in Round 2 of the East Mayo U14A championship played in Swinford on Monday evening, June 17. With just two points between the teams at half time, Kiltimagh 1-7 to Swinford’s 1-5, Kiltimagh upped their game in the second period and ran out deserving winners.

A free electrical recycling event hosted by WEEE Ireland and supported by Mayo County Council will be held today (Tuesday, June 25) at Gilmartin GAA Park, Kiltimagh from 4pm to 7pm.
All household electrical items (large or small) which are operated by a plug or battery (large or small), and are at the end of their useful life will be accepted for recycling free of charge. All types of batteries and energy saving bulbs will also be accepted for recycling.
Keith Lydon won first prize in Round 5 of the Summer Poker League in Teach O’Hora on Wednesday night last, with Enda Ruane finishing second. In third place was Derry O’Sullivan and Martin Regan in fourth was the other prize winner. The other finalists and their finishing positions were, 5 AN Other, 6 Mary McGlynn, 7 Gerry Groarke, 8 Michael Higgins, 9 AN Other.
Enda Ruane now leads the league table on 84 points followed by Michael Sheridan on 77. The rest of the top twelve is: Nicky Cunnane 70, Pat Boyle 69, AN Other 66, Gerry Groarke 66, Martin Regan 66, Mary McGlynn 60, Derry O’Sullivan 47, Tiernan Burke 45, AN Other 45, Julian Keane 41.
The league runs for fifteen weeks with a tournament every Wednesday night at 8pm. Entry each night is €20 with one optional re-entry allowed for ninety minutes. €5 from each entry goes towards the prize pool for the league final (to which the top twelve in the league automatically qualify) and the rest is paid out on the night. The final will have an estimated prizepool of just over €2,000. This is a members only league.
Booking for the FAI summer camp at Kiltimagh Knock United is now open. The camp takes place at the club from July 29 to August 2. Booking is online via the FAI.

This event is free and open to all bereaved parents regardless of the age your child died, the circumstances of their death, or whether their death was recent or not. The death took place recently in Danestown, Navan, of Agnes Carolan (in her 102nd year), she was formerly Agnes Lavin from Lisdduff, Kiltimagh.
The death has also taken place in Hertfordshire, England of Margaret Byrne, formerly Margaret Marnell, Aiden St, Kiltimagh.
Sympathy is extended to the bereaved families.
Kiltimagh suffered a ten points defeat to a much stronger Burrishoole side when they met in this Senior League Division 2A clash in Newport last week. Final score was Burrishoole 0-17, Kiltimagh 0-7.

The death occured of John Campbell, (JP), Dooriel, Ballycroy, Co. Mayo and London. He passed suddenly on June 17 last. Funeral arrangements to be announced at a later date. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved.

The Butterfly Garden in collaboration with artist Tom Meskell invites you to take part in a project for Wave of Light 2024. You are invited to volunteer in the sculpture of butterflies and lanterns which will be guided by artist Tom Meskell. These lanterns will be displayed and lit up pink and blue in the Butterfly Garden for this year’s Wave of Light remembrance event on October 15. There workshop for this initiative will be held in the Charlestown Arts Centre on June 25, from 7-9pm and fortnightly thereafter.
