Swinford Gardening Club AGM will take place on Tuesday, February 27, in the Meeting Room on Lower Main Street at 8pm. All members are invited to attend. New members are also welcome.
The next Killasser Community Bingo will be held on Wednesday, February 28, in the committee room in Killasser Community Centre. First house at 8pm with 10 games in total, 8 for a line and a house, a snowball game for €170 and a new jackpot game for €500.
Clann Machua will present their new play ‘Stolen Child’ in the Townhall Theatre, Kiltimagh, on Thursday, February 22, Friday 23 and Saturday 24, with curtain up nightly at 8pm.
Directed by Seamus Corry Stolen Child is a humorous and moving Two Act play which centres around one woman’s search for her birth mother that will make you laugh and make you cry and stay long in your memory after you leave the theatre.
The play will also be performed in the Townhall Theatre in Westport on Wednesday, February 28, before hitting the road to take part in the All Ireland Drama Festival Circuit. Admission is €15.
The numbers drawn in the Swinford Community Lotto draw held on February 12, were: 2, 15, 21 and 27. Darkness into Light 2024 registration is now open. Swinford is taking a break this year, so Kiltimagh is delighted to host the 2024 event. Preparations are in full swing for the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Swinford this year. This year’s parade theme is “Irish TV’s and Movies”. There is plenty of scope for the imagination with that theme, so the committee is expecting lots of creative entries. Committee members will be reaching out directly to all clubs, organisations, schools, individuals and businesses in Swinford and the surrounding parishes and villages to consider entering a float or a band or to support the parade to make this year’s parade a day to remember. Keep an eye on social media for updates.
Alone is looking for volunteers in Swinford, Foxford, and surrounding areas to visit older people in the community for one hour per week. The death occurred of Angela Montgomery, Boleyhill, Lisnaskea, Co Fermanagh, who died on Wednesday, February 7, and whose funeral took place in Lisnaskea on Saturday, February 10. She was mother of Bernie Horan, Carragowan. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved.

Information meeting on forthcoming referendums will take place in Bohola Community Centre on Tuesday, February 20, at 7.30pm. Tracey O’Mahony from the Irish Council of Human Rights will outline the implications of both referendums. The first relates to the 39th amendment on the ‘family’ and the second is on the 40th amendment on ‘care’.
