End of chapter for Naughton family

As another school year comes to a close at Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone, they are always reminded of how bittersweet this time can be, especially when families finish their educational journey with them. This year marked the end of a truly special chapter for the Naughton family as Amy Naughton in 6th year became the last member of the family to attend JMSS after more than 60 years of connection with the school community.

Over the decades, generations of the Naughton family have walked through the doors, contributing to school life in so many ways and becoming a valued part of the JMSS story.

All at Jesus and Mary Secondary School sincerely thank all the families who have finished with them - for their unwavering support, loyalty and trust in the school throughout the years. ‘It has been a privilege to be part of your family’s educational journey. You will always be party of the JMSS family’, said a spokesperson for the school.

Sunday Morning Beach Cleans

The Enniscrone Tidy Towns committee extend thanks to the West Sligo Athletic Club member who came out to do the beach clean on Sunday morning, June 28 last. They did a great job in picking up litter items ‘errantly’ left upon the beautiful sandy beach. They also thank Kilglass Enniscrone Utd FC who helped out on June 21. There are a number of sports clubs, social and residential groups lined up during July and August to participate each Sunday morning to do beach cleans, but other individuals are welcome to join in. The clean up starts at 9am and is finished by 10am.

The committee give special thanks to ‘Offshore Coffee & More’ for generously providing free coffees for all the Sunday morning volunteers.

A clean beach and dunes is not only important for all the people, young and old, who wish to come and enjoy it, but also for the abundant array of wild life, mammals, birds, plants and flowers, which depend upon it as their natural habitat – including the hedgehog.

This play has been described as sensitive, hilarious, intelligent, absolutely compelling and refreshingly forthright. A man, whose name we never hear, tells us his story of a life, always slightly out of his control… The madness of a simple rural man, a man shipped off to London at the age of 17, who goes through bouts of depression, obesity and anger issues finds and loses love, comes back to Ireland to more misfortune and mayhem and yet there is HOPE. This is a story of hope, where laughter and tears join hands and race us through fifty years of a life, not much different to our own. This is Seamus O’Rourke doing what he does best, storytelling.
