Junk Kouture finalists

Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone congratulated Kate Hannon and Caoimhe Hughes and Ms Hegarty on their achievement and for representing the school and themselves so well on the national stage at the Junk Kouture National Finals, which was held on Tuesday, October 1, at the RDS. ‘What a wonderful experience, brilliant work’. They also extended thanks to their families, school community and band of supporters with Ms Foody that travelled to the spectacular occasion. ‘We know you’ll have glimpsed many inspirational sights to feed the imagination’.

The girls were chosen from the regional finals to go on to the final of Junk Kouture, Ireland’s leading sustainable fashion competition with their outfit entitled ‘Mother Demented’. It was created entirely from fuel related materials such as coal bags, net wood bags, and briquette wrapping. Their aim is to highlight the damage, which these fuels are doing to Mother Earth. The resulting carbon emissions, if left to increase at current rates, will change our world forever. Our Mother Earth will no doubt, be left in a demented state.
