Clann Machua Drama Group will stage a three act play ‘The Cheque’s in the Post’ in the Town Hall Theatre on this Thursday and Friday night, October 12 and 13, with the curtain up at 8pm each night. A hilariously funny play, written by Alice Lynch, it tells the story of two sisters Maggie and Mary who run their small farm in the 1970s without any help - as far as anyone knows. In an old house up a long lane of potholes and empty whiskey bottles, with a banshee who frequents regularly and a neighbour who has his eye on the land, they live inharmoniously until Mary realises her disadvantage cheque hasn't arrived. Things can only get worse!
The cast is Mary: Ann Forde, Maggie: Elaine Regan, Bartley: Austin Finn, Dermot (postman): Conor Durkan, Sergeant: Seamus Corry, Vet: Keith Flanagan, Postmaster: Henry Kelly, Henry Mitchell: Lorcan Kitching, Miheal: Jarlath Malone, Mrs Buckley: Mairead Carney The play is directed by Sean Langan and Fiona Campbell and brings many new faces to the stage. Tickets are €15, available from Langan’s Off licence or on the door.

The Kiltimagh Knock United U12 girls are through to the final of the shield competition after a smashing 1-0 victory over Conn Rangers at CMS Park. With a few girls missing on the evening, the squad of 11 were pushed all the way by the visitors to book their day out for the final. Lucy Jennings scored the game's only goal in what was a real whole of team effort. A game which could have gone either way, applause also for Conn Rangers for their contribution in a real old fashioned semi-final.
