Men’s Shed Tea Party

The Men’s Shed are holding a tea party and raffle in The Brusna Inn on Friday, October 27, and music will be supplied by Pat Costello. Tickets are €15 and are available from Imelda Towey, Pat Towey and from Shed Members. A raffle for creative wood pieces made by members will be held on the night for - 1st prize a Wishing Well; 2nd prize a wheelbarrow and many more prizes. Tickets for the draw cost €5 each.

Echoes of Ballaghaderreen

The editorial committee of ‘Echoes of Ballaghaderreen’ has commenced work on this year’s paper and welcomes articles, notices, reports, poetry, photographs and advertisements for inclusion. Piano/Keyboard lessons

Piano/keyboard lessons are available in the Charlestown area offering RIAM exam preparation or to learn for fun. All ages are welcome. Contact Carmel on 086 3271196.

Soccer Club 50/50 draw

The Soccer Club 50/50 weekly draw took place on Tuesday, October 3, at the Community Park Clubhouse. The jackpot of €220 was won by Tommy and Anne Mannion, The Square and the seller was Mannion’s Bar. Dolores Brennan was the monthly prize winner of draw for two match tickets for Sligo Rovers Premier League match this season at The Showgrounds. The next draw takes place on Tuesday, October 10, at Community Park Clubhouse.

Clann Machua Drama Group

Clann Machua Drama Group will present ‘The Cheque's in the Post’, a hilarious comedy, in the Town Hall Theatre, Kiltimagh, this Thursday and Friday night, October 12 and 13, with curtain up each night at 8pm. Tickets are €15 and available from Langan's off- licence or on the door.

Retired nurses Mass

Mass for deceased nurses will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon, on Thursday, October 12, at 11 am. This will be followed by refreshments in Hannon’s Hotel, Roscommon. All are welcome.

Bingo

Bingo is held in Gurteen Hall every Friday night at 8pm. The jackpot stands at €1,800 in forty-five calls or less, the lotto raffle jackpot is €650 and there is also a 50/50 split. All support appreciated.

Sean Nos classes

GAA 50/50 draw

The Ballaghaderreen GAA club 50/50 draw took place on Sunday, October 1, in The Hatch. The jackpot of €605 was won by Pat Coen and the seller was the Saturday Night Team. Tickets can be purchased at various outlets in the town. An annual 50/50 ticket for €90 giving entry into every draw in the year is available from committee members. The Ozanam Centre

The Ozanam Day Centre, Oakgrove, has reopened after the summer. New members are welcome every Tuesday and Thursday in the centre. Laundry service is available for older people and home dinners are also available from Monday to Friday. Contact Michelle at the centre on 094 9862847 or talk to your home help for more information.

Bereavement Support meeting

Trained facilitators conduct a weekly bereavement support meeting at the Family Centre, Knock Shrine each Wednesday at 11am. Flourish Social Prescribing Service

Flourish Social Prescribing Service in conjunction with the HSE and delivered through The Family Centre, Castlebar, is now available in the Kilmovee and East Mayo area. Lisa is the link worker in the area and is available to confidentially meet you to discuss ways in which you can connect with your local community. Do you sometimes feel your life could be more enjoyable? Have you recently experienced a change in life such as; retirement, health issue, becoming a parent, change in employment, new to your area, relationship changes etc? If so, Flourish maybe for you. Flourish will also be running programmes in the East Mayo area over the autumn/winter period such as ‘The John Hoban Music Circle’, ‘Introduction to Journalling workshop’, ‘Reconnect to Wellbeing’, walk and talk groups and more.

Parish magazine 2023 launch

The 17th edition of Kilkelly Kilmovee Parish Magazine will be launched on Sunday, October 29, at Ireland West Airport Knock by Mick Foster and Moyra Fraser. A great night of entertainment is guaranteed with free entry, free parking, live music, raffle, refreshments and more. Eunice Moran will be mistress of ceremonies and Henry McGlade and his crew from TV Ireland Show will be there recording the night. Don't miss it! The jackpot at the weekly bingo held in Kilmovee on Sunday night is €1600 on 50 calls or less and the house lotto is €320 on four correct numbers. Glann Church bicentenary

Work is well underway for the bicentenary of Glann church which takes place on August 3, 2024. Financial donations and help in any other way will be very much appreciated. A commemorative booklet is being produced to mark this special occasion.

October devotions

On the Sunday evenings of October the rosary will be recited at 8pm in Kilmovee Church. All are welcome to come along and join in the rosary.

The late Sean Duignan

The death has taken place of Sean Duignan, at Brookvale Manor Nursing Home, Ballyhaunis, on September 27, and late of Currahard, Lisacul. Sean reposed in Gavin's Funeral Home, Knox Street, Ballyhaunis, on Sunday, October 1, with removal from Gavin's Funeral Home on Monday, October2, to Christ the King Church, Lisacul or Mass at 12 noon with the funeral proceeding to the local cemetery. May Sean rest in peace as deepest sympathy is extended to all who are bereaved.
