Mayo Ladies Pool Champion

Congratulations to Annie Lynskey from Belmullet who was crowned the Mayo Ladies Pool Champion recently in Castlebar. Annie played some great pool throughout the day to keep the cup in Erris taking over from reigning champion Rita Walsh. Well done Annie from all at the Erris Pool League.

In the ladies event, 13 players competed, with all participants guaranteed four matches in a round-robin format. After the group stages, eight players progressed to the quarter-finals, setting up some intriguing match-ups. Defending champion Rita Walsh faced a tough test and was eliminated 3-0 by Katharina Barrett. Andrea Barrett and Annie Lynskey also recorded convincing 3-0 wins over Natalie Jones and Lauren O’Boyle respectively.

The final quarter-final was the closest of the round, with youngster Mia Barrett narrowly missing out as Tanya Reddington produced a composed finish to edge through.

Annie Lynskey was first into the final after a strong 3-1 semi-final win over Andrea Barrett, while Tanya Reddington booked her place with some excellent finishing to defeat Katharina Barrett by the same scoreline.

The final began at a fast pace, with Annie taking the opening frame by breaking and dishing with an exceptional finish. She doubled her lead in the second frame after Tanya potted the cue ball while attempting her penultimate yellow. Tanya responded to take the third frame, but Annie showed great composure to claim the next frame and be crowned Mayo Ladies Champion for 2026.
