Golfer of the Year results

The Ladies Golfer of the Year title was retained by Dympna O'Donnell. A runaway winner this year and well deserved. Dympna played the most competitions of all the ladies this Summer and was twice a winner. She had nine Top 5 finishes and never finished outside of the top 8. Well done Dympna, a model of consistency. 2nd was Helen McNicholas who had one win and 3rd was Mary Horkan who also had one victory.

In the gents section, there won't be a kitchen made in the workshop this side of Christmas as Trevor McDonnell came out on top in a closely fought Gents Golfer of the Year. Trevor didn't play in as many competitions as his rivals, but when he did, he scored heavily, recording a major victory in the Presidents Prize and five further top 5's. 2nd was Tony Spain who had two wins and a runner-up finish in the Ormsby Cup. 3rd was Neil Fallon who had two wins and played in the most competitions during the Summer (20).

Thanks to all members who competed in the weekend competitions throughout the summer. The weekly competition is the soul of the club and that regular source of income that helps run the club. Thanks to all the sponsors, to the greens staff for having the course in super condition all Summer and finally a big thank you to Hilary McCrohan for organising and running the competitions. There is a huge amount of work that goes on in the background to run a competition every week.
