The death took place of Mabel Kilcullen, Kilcolman, Ballaghaderreen, on May 12, surrounded by her family at North West Hospice, Sligo. The death of Mabel has robbed the local community of an outstanding, caring, warm hearted lady, wife, mother and grandmother and a rock to her neighbours, friends and acquaintances, always ready and willing to help in every eventuality to anyone in need. Mabel was a native of Portavade, Dromard, County Sligo, and was a nurse by profession. Her personal qualities, character, and gifts made her very well suited to this profession. Huge crowds of people gathered at her removal and funeral as ample testament as to the popularity of Mabel and her husband and family within the community.
Mabel was predeceased by her parents Mabel and Jimmy, her sister Nuala, brother Peader, nephew Mark and niece Aisling and is survived by her husband PJ (Paddy Joe), her children Karen, Louise, Pauric, James, Ciaráin and David, her sisters Dympna Rooney, Helen O'Dowd, Sheila McCrann, Deirdre Browne, her brothers Michéal, James and Noel, son-in-law Pat, daughters-in-law Grainne, Noeleen, Amanda and Kelly-Marie, her grandchildren PJ, Frank, Dan, Thomas, Emma, James, Siabh, Abbie, Shea, Oisin and Evelyn, her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, nursing colleagues, relatives and many friends.
Mabel reposed in The Kilgarriff Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen, Tuesday, May 14, and her funeral cortege arrived to The Cathedral of the Annunciation and St Nathy, Ballaghaderreen, on Wednesday, May 15, for Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon, followed by interment in Kilcolman cemetery. May Mabel rest in peace as sympathy is offered to all who are bereaved.
