St Stephen's Day Swim

Crossmolina St Stephen’s Day Swim will take place at Lough Conn Pier, Crossmolina on St Stephen's Day at 12 noon. Your support and generosity would be most welcome on the day. Light refreshments will be served. This year the organisers have chosen to donate all funds raised to counselling services in the Ballina Family Resource Centre. They feel this will go a long way in helping people in the community to access counselling services at a reduced cost. Sponsorship cards available at Mulhern’s Gala.

Kilmurry 25 Card results

The following are the results of the weekly session on Thursday night. Best of 20 games 1st a tie Tom Hanahoe and Pakie Hefferon, Vincent Crowley and Liam Garvey, Leo Ryan and Tom O’Malley, Kevin and Jason Murphy, Liz Clarke and John Gilger. Raffle winners were 1st Michael Barrett, 2nd Leo Ryan, and 3rd Michael McAndrew. Hampers were won by Pakie Hefferon and Michael Cawley, 3rd PJ McNamara.

Lotto

There was no winner of Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club lotto jackpot on Saturday night, December 2, which was held in Hineys. The numbers drawn were 7, 11, 26 and 33. No punters matched three numbers and three tickets were drawn; Declan Gilroy, Keenagh, Ballina; John and Siobhain Leonard, Gortskeddia, Crossmolina; and Elvie Lavalle Lopez, Galway, and they each won €50. This week’s jackpot is €8,400. Many thanks for your continued support.

Mayo U21B championship

Crossmolina advanced to the semi-final of the Mayo U21 B Championship after a hard earned four points win over a very gallent Aghamore side at St Tiernans Park. Crossmolina lead at the break by 1-4 to 0-5 thanks to points from Daragh Syron, Diarmaid Walsh, two from James Maheady, and a goal from Diarmuid Coggins. Aghamores Tom O’Flaherty kicked three points and Brian Breslin and Dan Duffy tacked on points each. Eoin Murphy and Diarmaid Walsh points were cancelled out by the visitors Tom O’Flaherty and Liam Cassidy and by the eleventh minute Tom O’Flaherty and Dara Duffy had edged their side into a one point lead.

A James Maheady goal from a free in the twenty second minute which deceived the defenders crept into the net for the decisive score. Eoin Murphy kicked the insurance points in the twenty eighth minute after a very entertaining game that was always in the melting pot. The final score was Crossmolina 2-7, Aghamore 0-9.

A vacancy exists for a parish secretary in Moygownagh. Interested applicants must be eligible for RSS, TUS or CE schemes.  19.5 hours per week which are flexible. Contact Fr Matt or any member of the Pastoral Council for further information.

Rambling House 

The Rambling House group event will take place on Thursday, December 14. It is hoped to complete and bring home the Christmas wreaths as it is the last event of the current year.

Christmas Concert 

Carn National School are holding their Christmas Concert 'Bethlehem Ballroom' on Wednesday, December 13, at 7pm, in Moygownagh Community Centre. Come along for a night of fun and good entertainment. All support will be appreciated.

Daria’s Daycare 

The children and staff of Daria’s Daycare took part in National Pajama Day recently, raising funds to support important projects and charities that support children. The children really enjoyed this while raising money for a great cause.

Gratitude 

Ardagh Social Services wish to thank all those who attended and helped to make the recent Evening of Remembrance for the deceased of the parish an incredibly poignant and heartwarming event. Special thanks to parish priest, Fr Pat Munnelly, the church choir, all who read beautiful thought provoking reflections and Ardagh Community Centre committee for their invaluable assistance.

Star Production 

Everybody involved with the production of the Western People's recently published Christmas magazine, "Western Star", are to be congratulated on another superbly produced publication. The magazine is a compendium of hugely interesting articles written in humorous and easy to read styles covering a span of yesteryear to the present. Available countywide at all newsagents, book shops and Western People offices in Ballina and Castlebar. The festive magazine, which is very modestly priced at €5, is an ideal stocking filler for the season that's in it.

AGM 

Mayo North Old Engine and Tractor Club is holding its annual general meeting tonight, Tuesday, December 12, in Enniscoe Heritage Centre at 9pm. New members are being sought to help with the running of its annual events so an open invitation is extended to all.

Lotto 

Ardagh GAA Club's final monthly lotto draw for 2023 will be held on Thursday, December 28, in Mickey O'Boyle's. The lotto is a vital means of raising necessary finance for the club and officials express their sincere gratitude to everyone who continues to support the fundraiser.
