Congrats to everyone associated with Ballintubber Bulls Basketball Club on their absolutely outstanding recent achievements. They are a credit to their families, coaches and community. The U14 girls have joined the U14 boys and U16 boys to reach the All Ireland Club Championships next month. It is an amazing achievement for Ballintubber Club winning these hotly-contested league titles and to qualify for the prestigious national competition. Please get behind these teams and support them.
Also in a thrilling game, Ballintubber U12 boys secured the Div1 league title. This game ebbed and flowed between the teams until the final moments when Ballintubber held their nerve to get the points required to secure the title. Credit must also go to Westport on a fantastic spectacle for the supporters. Congrats also to Paul and Emma who put in such an effort to secure this win. Incredibly this is the fourth league title of the year, in a season that is exceeding all expectations for Ballintubber Bulls!
Congratulations to all the teams, their coaches and the club officer board on a most magnificent achievement.
There was no winner of the jackpot in the latest Ballintubber GAA lotto draw on Sunday, March 24. 8, 10, 14 and 20 were the numbers drawn. The winners of the consolation prizes of the €20 special €52k draw tickets on the night were Noreen Keane, Denise Walsh, Joe Geraghty, P and S Philbin, Padraic Heverin and Maureen O’Malley.
On last night, April 1, the jackpot stood at €4,300. All lucky dip winners get a ticket for the 'Win 52k' draw.
The draw is offering a lucky winner the chance to earn €1,000 a week for a year in their recent ‘Win €52K’ fundraiser. The attractive fundraiser will see one lucky winner claim a cash prize of €52,000 paid out at €1,000 per week into their account. Tickets are reasonably priced at €20 each or three for €50 and can be purchased through the club fundraiser website www.win€52k.ie or from any of the club’s executive. The winner will be drawn in the club’s Clogher clubhouse on Sunday, June 2, and will be broadcast live on the club.
In the senior championship club draw made last week, Ballintubber are grouped with Aughamore (1st away game) last year’s Intermediate champions, Kilmeena and near neighbours Breaffy GAA Club. Eagerly awaited, mouth-watering contests will take place in August/September.
It is with deep sadness we record the passing of Val, Hynes, Skehanagh Upper, Ballintubber, Claremorris, Co Mayo. Predeceased by his mother Kathleen he is deeply regretted by his heartbroken father Noel and by his siblings John, Noreen, Neil, Kathleen, Declan and Aiden, many relatives, neighbours and friends to whom sincere condolences are extended. He was laid to rest in Ballintubber Abbey cemetery after his Funeral Mass on last Thursday week just days after the interment of his uncle, Fr Val Hynes, SMA. Ar dheis De go raibh a nAinm.

Tochar Pádraic - St Patricks Pilgrim Paths is to receive €22,500 for the upgrade and maintenance of the historic paths to the reek. Ballintubber Abbey have welcomed the fantastic news which will assist greatly in carrying out essential maintenance.
The death has occurred of Jack Staunton, North Carolina, USA and formerly of Rostigue, Ballyglass, Claremorris. The deceased was an uncle of Christina Finnegan and Teresa Loftus, Rostigue to whom deep sympathy is extended.
The numbers drawn last week were: 6, 11, 15 and 27. There was no jackpot winner. Patrick Burke was the sole match 3 winner. Consolation prizes went to Mike and Tina Maloney, Bernie Conroy, Siobhan Gavin, James and Leona Gibbons and Noreen Killeen. The jackpot stood at €6,500 for last night’s draw on April 1. Ballyglass will hold an official Darkness into Light 5km walk this year in aid of Pieta House at 4.15am on the morning of Saturday, May 11. Volunteers will be needed to ensure everything goes smoothly and safely on the day so anyone who would like to be a steward, or help out in any other way, please let anyone on the Community Council know closer to the time. A new session of Yoga classes will commence in Halla Tuar Mhic Éadaigh starting on Tuesday, April 16, at 6.30pm. St Mary’s Church, Tourmakeady, was the scenic setting recently for the wedding of Marie Prendergast, daughter of Mary and Willie Prendergast, Gortmore, Tourmakeady, and Ronan Malee, son of Marty and Maura Malee, Kiltimagh. After a most colourful ceremony, performed by Fr John Kenny, the newlywed couple hosted a gala reception for their families and friends in the Mount Falcon Hotel, Ballina. They are wished good health and great joy and happiness in their married lives.

Tourmakeady and Partry Community Games Athletics Day has been organised for the May Bank Holiday Monday. There will be a 2pm start at Tourmakeady GAA pitch. All young enthusiastic athletes in the area should commence training shortly.

The Killawalla NS children will receive their First Holy Communion on Saturday, May 11, at 2pm in St Patrick’s Church Killawalla. The confirmation pupils of Killawalla National School will receive the sacrament of Confirmation in Ballintubber Abbey on Monday, April 15, at 2pm. The confirmandi will have completed their retreat experience on Monday, April 8, in Ballintubber Retreat Centre.
The Christian Community in Killawalla has welcomed its newest member, Noah Shayden Cannon, who was baptised in St Patrick’s Church, Killawalla, on last Saturday, March 30. Congratulations to his parents and family.

Killawalla Community have extended their heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of the late Charlie Bird, R.I.P. Almost 2 years ago on the ‘Climb with Charlie’ weekend, Killawalla community were overjoyed to have Charlie Bird, Claire and of course his best friend, Tiger visit the village. All present were blown away by his desire to meet people, inspect the art work the children from Killawalla NS had drawn for him and to officially start the local walk after the extremely busy day on Croagh Patrick he had the day before. It really was a special day with treasured memories for Killawalla community.
Killawalla Community Council has extended a huge thank you to Louise O’Malley and the Killawalla Ladies Group for organising the recent training with Rita Corcoran, Julie Staunton, and Bert Dowling from the local Ballyheane-Ballintubber CFR group. They trained 22 people in Heart Saver CRP and AED training over recent weeks. Huge thanks to those who attended training, raising €425.50 Ballyheane Ballintubber Community First Responders. Everyone's time and efforts are very much appreciated.
A spring Easter Ceile will be held in Partry Centre on Saturday night, April 6, with music by the popular ‘Rise the Dust’ Ceile band. Dancing is from 9pm and with refreshments served a great night for Ceile dancers is guaranteed.

Belcarra 8k Fun Run will take place on next Sunday, April 7. Kids run starts at 11am followed by the main run at 12 noon. The community are invited to take part and to come along and cheer on the participants. Registration on the day is at 9.30 at the community centre. All proceeds are in aid of the Belcarra Recreational Park. Any donation of food for the post-run refreshments in the community centre would be greatly appreciated. Michael's remains reposed at Coady’s Funeral Home on last Tuesday from 5.30pm until 7pm. The removal took place from Coady's Funeral Home on Wednesday morning at 8.30am to St. Aloysius Church, Breaffy, for Requiem Mass at 9am. Funeral ceremonies took place afterwards to Shannon Crematorium for service at 12 noon. May Michael’s gentle soul rest in peace.

Kelly Cup Group 1 result: Breaffy 1-14 Kilmeena 3-6. In the senior club championship Breaffy are in Group 1 with neighbours, Ballintubber, and also Aughamore and Kilmeena whom the meet away in the 1st round expected to be played in early August. There are some cracking games in store.
Breaffy Loop Walk is to receive €30,000 for upgrade works to the walk at Kincon. The funding should assist greatly in carrying out necessary upgrading the popular walk.
