This year’s Ballinrobe Festival will run from July 20 to July 26 and has another jam-packed schedule of events with something for all the family. Heritage Day takes place in Cornmarket on July 25 and will see vintage machinery and spinning wheels on display as well as heritage talks taking place. On the same day in Ballinrobe Library, there will be a display of old photos from Ballinrobe, and talks hosted by the Ballinrobe Historical Society.

A music and dance session for toddlers will take place in the Maple Youth Centre, Bowgate Street, on Tuesday, June 16, at 10.30am. This is a fun event for children and their parents. The cost to take part is €5 per family.
There was no winner of the €13,400 jackpot in the Ballinrobe GAA Lotto draw which was held on Monday, June 8. The numbers drawn were 13, 21, 23 and 35.
The match three winner (€100) was Kayla Maloney.
There was no winner of the €13,600 jackpot in the Garrymore GAA Lotto, which was held in Tierney’s of Foxhall, on Sunday, June 7. The numbers drawn were 4, 6, 12 and 18.
The €50 winners were Fintan Hession, Annfield, Kevin Gibbons, Farmhill, and Fiona Gavin, Clogher.
The club’s under-13 girls’ team recorded a 2-1 victory at home to Ballina Town in the Under-13 Cup Semi-Final on Sunday week last.
Ballinrobe were facing a tough challenge against Ballina, however the hosts gained a strong platform when Emily Ryan netted an early lead for the red and white.
Shortly after, Zoe O’Toole doubled the south Mayo girls’ advantage, and everything seemed to be going to plan for the hosts who led 2-0 at the interval.
Ballina though regrouped for the second half and the Moysiders deservedly reduced the deficit to set-up a tense finale to the tie. However, Ballinrobe held on for the victory and the Robesiders will face Claremorris in the Under-13 girls’ Cup Final in a couple of weeks’ time.
A men’s health awareness campaign titled ‘One Step at a Time’ will take place at the Square in Claremorris (Eircode F12 K766) on June 19, from 12.30pm to 3.30pm.
Events will include musical performances by Claremorris and Westport Men’s Shed groups; blood pressure and heart health testing; a spinning competition; a live broadcast from Claremorris Community Radio; free haircuts; health information stands, and lots more.

Ballinrobe Rugby Club held their end-of-season awards night in O’Malley’s Bar, Glebe Street, on Saturday, May 23. The award winners were as follows: Clubperson of the Year, Peter McHugh; Coach of the Year, David O’Loughlin; Women’s Young Player of the Year, Lauren Flynn; Women’s Players' Player of the Year, Clare Langan; Women's Player of the Year, Alana McCarthy; Men’s Players’ Player of the Year, Sean Mullin; Men’s Young Player of the Year, Peter Finlay; Men’s Player of the Year, Killian McHugh.
A bouquet of flowers was presented to Club President Deirdre Burke by Seamus O’Toole in recognition of her dedication and contribution to the club.
