Following the very successful and hilarious variety show held last year Ardagh Social Services are once again hoping to showcase the wonderful talent and creativity within the community. Along with a number of clubs and organisations Ardagh Social Services combined to produce one of the funniest productions ever staged garnering rave reviews from all who had the fortune to enjoy it. Ardagh have secured a plumb Treanlaur Catering Junior Football Championship quarter final encounter when they host Kilmovee Shamrocks at home this coming Saturday at 4pm. The team has performed exceptionally well throughout the championship and the players, management and club members deserve huge support in Ardagh on Saturday next. The advice is to get there early and heed the instructions of the voluntary stewards on duty.
A total of €411 was raised at the ProLife church gate collection held at Masses last week. The organisers wish to sincerely thank all those who generously contributed to the collection.

The death occurred on September 10, of Nancy Magee (nèe Gilroy), Castlebellingham, Co. Louth and formerly of Ballycastle, Co Mayo and Omaha, Nebraska, USA in her 102nd year. Nancy was predeceased by her husband Donal and her siblings. Sympathy is extended to her son and daughters Eithne, Hugh, Emer, Siobhàn and Bronagh, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. She was aunt of John Burke, Main Street, Catriona, Fr Kieran, Raymond and Mairèad. May she rest in peace.
Congratulations to Liam Heffernan, last week's winner of €234 in the GAA 50/50 draw. The weekly 25 card game takes place on Tuesday nights in the clubhouse.

Moygownagh Rambling House returned from their summer vacation on Thursday, September 10, when they gently eased back into the autumn schedule by hosting a celebratory function for fellow member Billy Heffron to mark the launch of his memoir, “Fighting the good Fight- A life of Community and Conviction in County Mayo”. Billy’s memoir co-written with journalist Edwin McGreal and launched by Western People Newspaper columnist Christy Loftus, span seven decades of change, growth and development throughout rural and urban areas of County Mayo.

The Children's choir appeals to any child who would like to play a role in their monthly church liturgy to sit in the company of the choir. The procedure is if you notice any suspicious activity, you ring the Gardai on 096 20550 and they will decide if it warrants a text being sent to the scheme. Killala Community Council (Newstart) Ltd are running a Meals on Wheels service for Killala and surrounding areas. They aim to provide nourishing quality meals at an affordable price to any senior citizen who signs up. The meals will have two courses and can be collected or delivered. Orders can be taken up to 11.30 am each day. This service is available to anyone over 60 years or recovering from illness. If interested contact 096 32992 or 32484.
