Local News: Rambling House Concert to take place in Gurteen

A Rambling House Concert will take place on Saturday, January 6th, at 8pm in the Coleman Music Centre Gurteen, Co Sligo with a great line-up of musicians and singers. 

Performing on the night will be Patsy Hanly, Pat Sweeney, Seamus O’Donnell, John Dwyer, Brian Mostyn, Fiachra Guihen, Jason McGuinness with Bean an Ti Caitriona Ni Cheannabhain. Special guests also on the night.

Charity calendars still for sale

The calendar made by Community Art Group in Ballaghaderreen in aid of the Irish Cancer Society is still for sale. Full of images with hearts that lift the spirit, it is a great gift for Christmas or any other occasion. The price for the calendar is €8 and it can be bought in eight shops in Ballaghaderreen - BB Hair, Brian Mulligan's, First Class Office/School Supplies, Imelda Towey's, Michael Mulligan's, Molloy’s Pharmacy, Newsround, and SuperValu. All proceeds go to the fight against cancer.

Soccer Club 50/50 draw 

The Soccer Club's 50/50 weekly draw took place on Wednesday, December 27th, at the Community Park Clubhouse. The jackpot of €225 was won by Patsy Lee and Lisa Bolton – seller Spell's Bar. 

The next draw takes place on Tuesday, January 9. Tickets are available at the usual outlets around the town or online at www.clubforce.com. Why not purchase an annual ticket for €90 which you are supporting Ballaghaderreen FC and giving someone 52 chances to win in the weekly 50/50 draw?

Brusna 50/50 Draw

Brusna Voluntary Community Development Association 50/50 draw continues weekly outside the Brusna Inn Shop at 9.30pm on Sunday evening. Ballagh' GAA Club 50/50 Draw

The Ballaghaderreen GAA Club 50/50 draw took place on Sunday, December 23rd, in Spells Bar, Pound St. The jackpot of €1,000 was won by Josh and Dylan Carney, and the seller was the Saturday Night Team. 

Bonus Christmas prize winners of €100 were Pat Brehony, Lisacul; Lindsey Dillon, Hawksford, Fergus Kilroy, Cloontia; Mick Bedford, c/o Jackie M and Pat and Maura Casey, Banada.

The late Jennifer O'Connell

The death took place suddenly on December 19th last of Jennifer O’Connor, Dublin and late of Kilcolman Road, Ballaghaderreen. 

Her remains reposed at the Sharkey Funeral Home on Saturday, December 23rd, with removal from her home on Sunday to St Nathy’s Cathedral for Mass of the Resurrection at 2pm celebrated by Fr Paul Kivlehan, Administrator, St Nathy’s Cathedral assisted by Fr Denis Ogwu, CC, St Nathy’s Cathedral followed by private cremation. 

Jennifer was predeceased by her father Denis and will be remembered by her mother Fran, sisters Denise and Lisa, partner Rob, Lisa’s husband Aaron, uncles, aunts, the extended O’Connor and O’Connell families, neighbours and many friends to whom we offer our deepest sympathy.

Community dinner a huge success 

Thank you to all the volunteers and everyone involved in the Christmas Community Dinner which took place on Sunday, December 17.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and enjoyed the lovely afternoon. Your continued support for the Kilmovee Bingo and Kilmovee Community Centre is very much appreciated.

Shamrocks GAA News 

There was no winner of the jackopt in the Kilmovee Shamrocks GAA Lotto on Saturday, December 16, when the numbers drawn were 9, 23, 34 and 36.

Kilmovee Bingo returns on Sunday, January 7th, at 8-30pm.

Kilmovee Active Age 

Kilmovee Active Age Club closed for the Christmas /New Year break on Thursday, December 14, and the club reopens on Thursday, January 11. All members are wished a very happy, healthy and prosperous year in 2024.
