Hundreds flock to Claremorris for Children’s Games

The members of Nephin Athletic Club who competed in the Children's Games which were hosted by Claremorris AC.

The Westnet Mayo U9 to U11 Children’s Games were held in Claremorris on May Bank Holiday Weekend. Over 400 athletes, including 74 relay teams competed on the day, and for some of the athletes it was their first time ever to take part in the championships – but that did not deter them from going all out to do themselves, their families and their clubs proud. In excellent weather conditions, competition across all ages and events was fierce and started off with relays followed by the 60m, 300m, 500m, 600m, turbo javelin and long jump over all ages. The qualifiers go through to the Connacht Children’s Games.
