Mulranny:

Sean Heverin captured the Helm Bar & Restaurant, Westport, stableford competition at the weekend with 43pts. John Gallagher took second spot on 42pts, with Terry Madden third with 41pts. Next weekend’s Stableford competition is sponsored by Padraig McHale Menswear, Castlebar, and you may play from Friday to Sunday.

Maureen Noone’s President’s Day enjoyed glorious Mulranny sunshine on Saturday with the fine weather creating a feel good factor. The men’s 9-Hole was won by Aodan McSuibhne with an excellent score of 23pts. Eugene McCormack took runner up spot with 20pts, with John Joyce in third place on 19pts.

Congratulations to Maureen’s Prize winner, Maureen Mulloy on her great win. After the first round of the Grainne Uaile Triangular competition in Belmullet, the host club holds a slender ten points lead over Mulranny with Achill surprisingly trailing by over thirty points. Next week the road show heads for Achill and a beefed up Islander side is expected to be a different proposition. Fergus Rothwell/J.J.Kelly combo took second prize in the Fourball competition with 48 pts. well behind a local pairing who recorded 53pts Well done to Saskia Eland on winning the 9-Hole Seniors with a score of 21pts to continue the dominance of lady members. Second was Seamus Hyland also on 21 pts, with Jack O’Hara in third spot with 20pts. Play Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
