Glór na dTonn mark album release with Ballina show

The members of Glor na dTonn Céilí Band celebrate their victory at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Wexford last August.

Current All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil Senior Céilí Band champions Glór na dTonn released their highly anticipated debut album Come West Along The Road – An Bóthar Siar on Friday last, May 1st.

Rooted in the rich musical traditions of Mayo and Sligo, the band has built a reputation for their lively Connacht style of dance music, inspired by some of the region’s most celebrated musicians, including the legendary James Morrison and Michael Coleman.

The album is a reflection of the tunes and songs the group has enjoyed performing together as friends over the years. There are 14 tracks on the album featuring a mix of traditional music and songs.  Come West Along The Road – An Bóthar Siar is available to purchase online via Bandcamp, as well as at upcoming launches, concerts and céilís.

Glór na dTonn will officially launch the album with a special concert at Ballina Arts Centre on Friday, May 8th, as part of the Mayo Fleadh Cheoil. The night promises to be a celebration of the very best of traditional music from County Mayo, with support from the Bofield Harp Ensemble.

Tickets are available now from ballinaartscentre.com or by phone at 096-73593. It promises to be a very special evening with this wonderfully talented group of musicians.
