A man has been arrested after a girl was seriously injured by an e-bike in Dublin.

The girl was struck by a Sur-Ron type bike which failed to remain at the scene at around 8:20pm on Friday.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after the incident at Curragh Hall in Tyrellstown.

The girl was taken to Temple Street Hospital and is being treated for serious injuries.

The man, in his 20s, is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a station in north Dublin.

No other injuries were reported.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, and have asked anyone who may have seen a Sur-Ron type e-bike travelling in the area at any point on Friday to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam, and were travelling in Tyrellstown, particularly the Curragh Hall Crescent area between 7.30pm and 8.30pm, are asked to make the footage available.
