Ballina Town FC have made a statement ahead of the 2026 Mayo Super League season after they completed the signing of former League of Ireland star David Cawley.
It is a full circle moment for the 34-year-old Ballina native, who began his soccer career with his hometown club will hope to help Mick Duffy's side challenge for trophies this season.
Cawley later joined Ipswich Town in 2007 before departing Portman Road in 2011. His biggest success arrived as part of Sligo Rovers where over the course of two spells, he helped the club to a LOI Premier Division title in 2012, an FAI Cup in 2013 and a Setanta Sports Cup in 2014. He made over 300 appearances for the club, and is in the top ten all-time appearance holders for Rovers.
He also enjoyed spells at St Patrick's Athletic, where he won a League of Ireland Cup in 2016, as well as Galway United and Finn Harps.
