Five men charged with various offences following unrest and rioting near an accommodation centre for International Protection applicants in west Dublin have been granted bail.

They are accused of offences in west Dublin on Tuesday night.

At Dublin District Court on Wednesday, Judge Áine Shannon noted there was no objection to €150 cashless bail in each case, subject to conditions which were imposed, including a ban on going to Citywest, Saggart and its environs, for the duration of the prosecutions.

Judge Shannon granted legal aid to all five and ordered the disclosure of prosecution evidence to defence lawyers. However, she heard that there was no CCTV evidence.

The five men will appear again in November to enter pleas.

Polish national Karol Piskorski, 44, of Eaton Green, Rathcoole, was charged with possessing a lock-knife which had a blade at Fitzmaurice Road, Rathcoole, on October 21st.

The charge is under section 9 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act. He queried the charge, saying it was not in Citywest, and that he was arrested at another location.

After being granted legal aid, his solicitor Sean Lacey said he would abide by conditions.

The court heard he was in employment, had a mortgage and children, and a statement of his means was furnished to the court. He was ordered to appear again on November 19th.

The other four face charges under the Public Order Act.

Mark Molloy, 53, of Rathlawns, Rathcoole, is accused of failing to comply with a Garda direction to leave the vicinity of Garters Lane, Saggart.

His second charge is engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour at the same location.

His solicitor, Michael French, said his client, who is in full-time employment, would stay away from the area. He also consented to a request to sign on once weekly at a garda station, provide his phone number, and remain contactable.

Darren Monks, 50, of Cloonmore Gardens, Jobstown, Tallaght, faces the same two charges as Mr Molloy.

He was granted legal aid, and his solicitor, Peter Keating, indicated there was consent to bail terms to stay away from Citywest and its environs, sign on once a week at Garda station, and provide a phone number on which he can be contactable at all times.

He will appear again on November 12th.

Waste-management worker, Vincent Meaney, 48, of Kindlestown Park, Greystones, Wicklow, and Creagh Woods, Gorey, Wexford, has been charged with loitering at Garter Lane and failing to comply with a Garda direction to leave that vicinity.

His second charge is for trespassing after he was allegedly found on the curtilage of a building at The Anvil Restaurant, Saggart Village.

The judge permitted him to return to Saggart only to collect his car following a request by his solicitor Evan Moore.

Graham Jennings, 39, Elm Walk, Forest Hills, Rathcoole, is accused of engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, at Mill Road, Saggart and being intoxicated to such an extent that he might endanger himself or any other person in the vicinity.

In addition to being ordered to stay away from Saggart, he was warned that he must stay away from all IPAS centres. His solicitor Brian Doherty said his client also agreed to the conditions sought.

Mr Meaney, Jennings and Molloy will face their next hearings on November 20th at Tallaght District Court.
