Enniscrone showjumper takes home international title for Ireland

Paddy Reape represents Ireland

Well done to Paddy Reape, Ard Chuain Equestrian Centre, who proudly represented Team Ireland as an elite youth athlete in showjumping last week in Compiegne, France. All at Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone, are incredibly proud of his success and dedication.

Denis Flannelly’s Junior Show Jumping team of Paddy Reape, Isobel Sheehan, Isabel O’Brien and Lauren Adams have won the FEI Youth Nations Cup in Compiegne.

After three rounds of thrilling jumping, Team Ireland jumped off against Germany to finish on a score of 4 in a time of 109.40 followed closely in second by Germany also on a score of 4 in a time of 110.43.

The late Eileen Healy 

The death took place of Eileen Healy nee Coleman, Grangebeg, Skreen, and formerly of Culleens, peacefully, at her home surrounded by her loving family, following a short illness. Eileen was predeceased by her loving husband Noel and brother Tony (Shannon, Co Clare). She will be sadly missed by her daughter Noeleen (Trevor), sons Padraig (Lisa), Gerry (Yvonne), Micheal (Liz), Sean (Lorraine) and David (Marian) and their families, her sister Maureen O’Malley, Ballinrobe and brothers Padraig, Culleens and Mattie, Enniscrone. Eieen will be sadly missed also by her brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Eileen reposed at Sweeney’s Funeral Home, Dromore West F26 DR90 on Monday evening from 5.30pm to 8pm with removal to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Templeboy, at 8.30pm. Her requiem Mass was held on Tuesday morning at 12 noon with the funeral proceeding to St Mary’s Cemetery, Skreen.

Senior Ladies welcome new sponsor for 2025

Eoghan Rua Ladies FC extend their heartfelt thanks to Declan and all in ENEXIV for coming on board with the senior ladies as their main sponsor for 2025. Their jerseys are extra special and they are proud to be able to promote the importance and positive impact of organ donation on the sleeves of each jersey. They hope to inspire everyone to ensure they have discussed their wishes of being a donor.

The club also thanks Top Oil, Ballina for their contribution towards the team for the season, and as always to Playr-Fit Teamwear whose design and quality are exceptional. The ladies rocked their new jerseys in Quigabar with a great win over CT Gaels. Hopefully these jerseys will bring plenty of more wins for the ladies in the coming season.

Ava was 'Player of the Match’

Kilglass Enniscrone Utd FC were proud of club member Ava Hallinan for her call up to the Ireland U15s Bob Docherty Cup which took place in Belfast last week. Ireland beat England on Monday, April 14, 2-1 and Scotland on Tuesday, April 15, 2-0, and Ava was named Player of the Match in the game against Scotland. The team played Northern Ireland on Thursday, April 17.

Enniscrone Men’s Shed

The lads from Enniscrone Men’s Shed are back on their bikes. Thanks to Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership and Brian for running a cycling class. It is not just for the shed, if any man would like to join the men on their cycle, come along to the West Sligo Family Resource Centre or the Men’s Shed on Tuesdays at 2pm. The class lasts 1 hour.

Blotto

Congratulations to Cathy Sheridan Fox who won the jackpot of €4800 in the Blotto draw which was held on Sunday, April 13. The numbers drawn were 18, 30 and 39. €25 prizewinners were Martina O’Connor, Alan McGowan, Patrick Brennan and Aidan Morrison. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on Sunday, April 20, in the Pilot Bar was €3000.

Creative Writing Workshop

Creative writing workshops for adults will run each Tuesday, from 7-9.30pm in the Glencar TeaSHED, from April 22 to June 10, led by award-winning author and poet Shane Leavy. The eight weekly workshops are €190. They are suitable for beginners or more experienced writers or poets, and tea and snacks will be provided. Enniscrone Kilglass GAA roundup

The intermediate footballers from Enniscrone Kilglass GAA Club are through to the Senior Spring League final following 1-12 a piece draw with Shamrock Gaels at Quigabar. The final will take place on the weekend of May 10/11. In the meantime the lads attention will turn to the start of their Division One league campaign, which begins with a home fixture against Coolera/Strandhill on Saturday, April 26, at 6pm.

The Junior ‘B’ team begin their Division 4B campaign the night before, Friday, April 25, against the same opposition.

The U15s produced a great display to beat St Molaise Gaels in Grange winning by a single point on a 4-13 to 6-6 scoreline. They had a home match on Monday, April 14, against Ballymote/Bunninadden and they had their second successive win with a scoreline of 7-13 to 5-10.

The U13’s C team put in another superb display to beat Coolera/Strandhill in Ransboro last week winning by 4-17 to 4-14. The lads had a home match against Ballymote/Bunninadden on Tuesday night, April 15, and had a good win.

The U9s had a great un out recently with matches against Castleconnor in Corballa, and last week they hosted Easkey.

The popular nursery programme returns for a new year on April 26 at 10am. The nursery will run on Saturday mornings and will include U5s, U7s and U9s with boys and girls welcome.If you wish to register your child’s interest in taking part, contact the following U5s Alan Hargadon 087 7407992, U7s Mark Gordon 087 9827436.

The club extends its sympathies to Mattie and the Coleman and Healy families on the death of Mattie’s sister, Eileen Healy last week. The club also extends its sympathies to the Conmy family on the recent passing of Gerry Conmy, who was a member of Enniscrone Kilglass Junior Championship winning team in 1966. Football Nursery

Get your Saturday mornings all planned out. Starting on April 26 at 10am football coaching for U5’s, U7’s and U9s will be held at Enniscrone Kilglass GAA Grounds, Quigabar, F26 D710. Learn new skills and make new friends in a fun, welcoming and safe space for all. Both boys and girls are welcome.

Community Gathering

Kilglass Parish Community Centre are holding a Community Gathering to celebrate one year of the Hub and launching Phase 2 on Sunday, May 4 at 7pm in The Hub. Indoor Market

The Enniscrone Indoor Market is open every Saturday from 11am to 3pm. Come along and meet some of the fabulous traders eg. EWAC Enniscrone, Brown Penny, Suantrai na Coille, Seoda na Ce and more. Enjoy a coffee and some home baking. There will be wonderful gifts, decorations, paintings, handmade blankets, clothing, jewellery, local crafts, treats, fresh fruit and vegetables and much more. Indoor hurling

Easkey/St Farnans Indoor hurling takes place on Wednesdays in the old factory from 6 to 6.45pm for U7’s, 6.45 to 7.30pm for the U9’s. Helmets and hurls will be provided for new players. Boys and girls are welcome.

Party Room

The party room at Kilglass Parish Community Centre is booking up fast. The party room can accommodate up to 15 children and they can enjoy connect four, air hockey, karoke and lots more. There are three different options; Room only €100; Room and two party co-ordinators €150 (they will play games with the children, but not supervise them); Gaming parties €180 – 6 children can play Xbox games at one time. Bingo

Bingo takes place every Tuesday at 8pm with doors opening at 7pm. There is always free tea and coffee on offer. All are welcome to come along and support, and be in with a chance to win. All money raised goes to Western Gaels.

Castleconnor

Community First Responders fundraiser

Stokane and Corballa National Schools came together for a fundraising event recently and raised €1714 for the Castleconnor First Responders, which will go towards buying a CPR mannequin needed for training. The group thank the pupils for partaking and their parents for facilitating, and some former students who also took part.; to Peter Neary for acting as MC and his brothers Jarlath and Joe; to sponsors of the raffle Diamond Coast Hotel, John Tuffy Construction, Warren Rolston Kitchens, Ella and Joe and Muddy Burns. A great night was had by all, and the community support is greatly appreciated.

Castleconnor GAA lotto

The numbers drawn in the Castleconnor GAA lotto which was held on April 12, were 8, 10, 36 and 39. There was no jackpot winner and no match 3 winner. Lucky Dip winner of €50 was Ronan Hallinan. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on Saturday, April 19, was €11,500.

Castleconnor GAA All Stars return

The Castleconnor GAA All Stars will return for another block of sessions starting on May 10 from 10am to 10.45am. It will continue on May 17 and May 24. Well done to the Creighton twins Anna and James from Castleconnor Community Games, who both came away with medals for cycling last week. Anna won gold in the girls U12 competition and James came away with silver in the boys U12 competition. This is a fantastic result from both of them.
