Enda keeps it in the family with memorable club win

Athletics: The 2025 Ronan Clarke 10k run and 5k run/walk, held on Sunday, June 8 in association with Killala GAA and the Clarke Family, was once again a major success. Held annually since 2015, the event raises funds for both the Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation and Killala GAA Benevolent Fund.

Over 500 people were present for what turned out to be two very exciting and competitive races. Special guests on the day included popular Midwest Radio broadcaster Gerry Glennon and Martina Jenning, Chief Executive of Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.

The 10k men’s race was won by well-known runner Cian Charlton in a very impressive time of 35:40, while the women’s 10k race was won by Aisling Moyles from Moygownagh in 40:34.

The Ronan Clarke Memorial Cup, which is presented to the first member of Killala GAA Club to cross the finish line in the 10k race, was won by Enda Clarke in a finishing time of 36:30. Enda is a brother of the late Ronan Clarke and this is the second time he has won the Ronan Clarke Memorial Cup, having previously done so in 2017.

The 5k men’s and women’s winners were Marcin Wiacek and Suzanne Walsh from Killala while there was also an incredibly strong showing at the under-16 age grade, with Owen Gallagher of Moy Valley AC winning the boys age grade with a very impressive time of 17:56. The U16 girls age group was won by Aoibhinn Clarke (daughter of the late Ronan Clarke) in a fantastic time of 19:35.

The U14 5k winners were Luke Deacy and Riona Whelan while at U12 level, the boys and girls winners were Jack McLoughlin and Fiona McLoughlin.
