All-Ireland medals for Moy Valley AC walkers
Moy Valley AC's Siobhan O'Reilly, Seamus Clarke, Lillian O'Brien and Pearl Sands were among the medalists at the All-Ireland Indoor Track championships.
A diligent group of race walkers prepared for the All-Ireland Indoor Track championships with great attention to detail and dedication to their training programmes under the watchful eye of coach Deirdre Clarke. Their efforts were rewarded with all four winning All-Ireland medals.
Seamus Clarke was first in action and won the boys U18 walk. Siobhan O’Reilly came third in the U18 girls walk to add to her national medal collection. It was great to see her back on the national stage after a frustrating period of injury.
The highlight of the day came in the girls U16 race with Lillian O’Brien and Pearl Sands taking their places on the start line. Despite a blistering fast start from other athletes, both Moy Valley athletes came through the field with assured pace and determination. Pearl Sands lead the charge for home with Lillian O’Brien in close pursuit. The last lap was one to remember with Pearl and Lillian winning the gold and silver medals respectively.
