Fishing poor on lakes

MOST of the last week saw bright sunshine and light winds, difficult fishing conditions, however the break in the weather over the last day or so will hopefully bring on hatches and get fish moving again.  more >

WHILE the wet winter took its toll on early season opportunities for salmon angling, spring has really arrived now at the Galway Weir.  more >

Moy salmon catch over 8,300

THE Moy system accounted for a reported catch of 411 salmon for the week of which at least 115 were released. This brought the catch for 2007, to date, to 8,302 with just a week remaining in the season.  more >

AGAIN a quiet week on Lough Conn with very few anglers fishing the lake due to the dry weather conditions and low water levels.  more >

Ballinrobe angler catches longest fish on Lough Mask

THE weather was very settled over the week, with no real cloud cover until Sunday. The lake levels have receded a lot with all the dry weather.  more >

Quiet days for west’s anglers

CONDITIONS were fairly calm and sunny, not conducive to great fishing on Mask at any time. There were small hatches of mayfly and sedge over the week, with few anglers out fishing for this time of year.  more >

THE Moy system yielded 446 salmon for the week, with the best of the fishing, again, in the middle reaches of the Moy between Ballina and Foxford.  more >

Quiet days on Mask

THE weather continued unsettled during the week, with sedges being the main insects hatching. The lake was quiet for the most part, and with trout still feeding on perch fry many anglers are resting the lake until fishing picks up again.  more >

Evening fishing best on Carra

BLUSTERY conditions also made for fewer anglers out on Carra over the week, with 26 anglers reporting 17 trout in 38 rod-days, with sedge and buzzer hatches dictating flies.  more >
