All members are requested to attend as there are a number of important items up for discussion. G.A.A. NEWS The Charlestown Sarsfields had an enjoyable time at the prestigious Kilmacud Sevens on the eve of the All-Ireland Final where they made it to the final of their group before losing out narrowly to an experienced Bryansford team from County Down. The Sarsfields had earlier beaten St. Aidan’s of Roscommon and Edenderry of Offaly in their other group games and were a little unlucky against Bryansford in their group final as a little bit of inexperience of this very specialist type of game came against them at crucial times particularly in the second period when their more experienced opponents made better use of possession and took their scoring when presented. Nevertheless it was a good learning experience for the Sarsfields and given a little bit more exposure to this type of football and more competition, they could make a bigger impact if invited back again. The panel which represented the Sarsfields was as follows: David Tiernan (capt), John Casey, Sean Higgins, Aidan Higgins, Kevin Deignan, Richard Haran, Enda Casey, Paul Mulligan, Dermot Higgins and Brian O’Connell. The cost will be a paltry E45 for the year where you select four numbers out 32 and these become your numbers for the each weekly draw. People who go this route receive seven free weeks plus they will be in a draw for a prize which is an incentive for people to take this option. There was a great response last year to the draw and with so many developments currently taking place in O’Hara Park such as the development of a new pitch all support would be gratefully received. The club intend to seek out as many people as possible world wide to come on board for the lotto and the people who purchased annual tickets in the last draw have had a great run of success in the weekly consolation prizes. The team and panel have just returned from a training camp in Barbados where they underwent several intensive upper body sessions in the hope of having their muscles and conditions toned for the up coming All-Ireland decider shortly in Killiney. The spirit is good in the camp and manager Frank Clark is very positive about his teams chances despite the overwhelming odds which are stacked against them.
