Big interest in International Women’s Day business event
THE first ever International Women’s Day workshop for businesswomen in Mayo is receiving a lot of attention and Mayo County Enterprise Board are delighted with the level of bookings. The Workshop is entitled Achieving Your Potential and will be held on International Women’s Day which is March 8th. It takes place in Pontoon Bridge Hotel and is aimed at women in business at all levels.
Speakers at Achieving Your Potential include consultant and trainer Darina Loakman who was listed as one of the 50 Most Influential Women in Ireland (2006), Aideen Kane from GMTV and organisational consultant Annette Clancy.
The workshop will be facilitated by Finola Howard, Marketing Consultant.
The speakers will each develop one of three aspects of Achieving Your Potential: The Issues, Working from Home and The Working Woman.
Annette Clancy will speak about the wider social and psychological issues which help (and sometimes hinder!) our ability to fully reach our potential. Darina Loakman will deal with working from home, exploding some of the commonly believed myths and assisting women to work more effectively from home. Aideen Kane will speak about the working woman from her own experience working in the television industry. She will deal with staffing and resources in a rural environment, goal definition and shifting priori-ties before and after children.
Annette Clancy is a highly qualified organisational consultant who assists individuals and organisations achieve their potential in the public, private and not for profit sectors. She was, for many years, a senior manager in the cultural sector and now runs her own company, Interactions, based in Dublin. She consults, coaches and trains; is an accredited psychotherapist and has worked extensively with individuals and organisations going through major change processes. She has particular expertise in the management of emotion in the workplace and is currently a Doctoral candidate researching “disappoint-ment” in business settings.
Darina Loakman is an independent technology consultant, trainer, speaker and advocate of work at home Mothers. Her career history includes the posts of Key Account Manager with a major travel GDS and of Chief Technology Officer of ICS-Skills. Her real enthusiasm is for showing others how to use technology to make life easier, in easy-tounderstand non-technical language. Darina loves to discuss all aspects of working from home and has a passion for helping women succeed in their quest to find, or grow their home-based business.
To this end she has created the popular website www.iamawahm.com - the only website dedicated to work from home mums in Ireland and the UK .
Aideen Kane is a successful television producer working with GMTV in Crossmolina, North Mayo where she has produced documentaries, series and dramas for RTE, Setanta and film festivals. Her portfolio includes producing a documentary insert on grey seals for National Geographic, screened on The Today Show and co-producing a documentary for RTE on the Tsunami. Her extensive experience includes six years in the USA where she worked for major networks such as CBS and ABC. She was Line Producer on a 12 part documentary series entitled “The Awful Truth” directed by Michael Moore of Fahrenheit 9/11 fame. Aideen also produced a 10 part documentary series starring Ruby Wax.
