An  elderly woman died after being hit by a truck outside Castlebar last Wednesday.

80-year-old Kate Kelly from Ballyheane, Castlebar was walking on the N84 Castlebar to Ballinrobe road shortly after 1pm when she was struck by a HGV at Aughadrinagh about two miles from Castlebar.

She was taken to Mayo General Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
